On Sunday 23 September 2007 Team members assisted by local farmers and Northumberland National Park Wardens helped to erect a memorial stone in memory of the two shepherda who died on their return home from market, during a snow storm. At this time (circa 1962/1963) there was no rescue team in Northumberland. This single event was the reason for the formation of the Northumberland National Park Search and Rescue Team the very first search/mountain rescue team in Northumberland. We are now known as the Northumberland National Park Mountain Rescue Team. On 24th November 2007 there was a memorial service and dedication in Alnham.

You can read more about this event on the Northumberland National Park's web site and at the BBC. BBC Look North have also released a film report.
One of the Team's current landrover ambulances is in need of replacing. We are currently trying to raise funds for its urgent replacement. If you or your company would like to contribute to raising the £35000, please contact our or the who will discuss with you your proposal. Many thanks.
