Northumberland National Park Mountain Rescue Team is an organisation composed entirely of unpaid volunteers.
The service it provides is available 365/24/7. The nature of the work demands a high level
of professionalism, often working along side other professional organisations such as the Police, Ambulance
and RAF Rescue services.
We are always on the lookout for people to join the Northumberland
National Park Mountain Rescue Team. So if you have a background
in mountaineering/hillwalking and think
you have the necessary mountain skills and that your personal
skills would be of benefit to the Team, then
we advise you to download and read carefully the information pack.
Then complete the application form and return it to our secretary.
On completion of an application form the following process applies:
1. Interview
2. Introduction / Outline of the Team (presentation /discussion)
3. Hill Test 1 (Assessment)
4. Hill Test 2 (Assessment)
Assessment will be by two or more Full Team members. Successful completion of the recruitment
phase results in the applicant joining the team as a Trainee Member. As a trainee member the recruit will
attend team training exercises where progress will be monitored during an apprenticeship lasting several months
covering the Core Skills. Full Membership is achieved following satisfactory completion of initial training and
probationary period on the Callout list.
Committment
Before you consider joining our Team you must be aware that such an organisation requires a great deal of time
and committment. It is expected by all Team members train and practise skills twice a month: once indoors on the last Tuesday of every
month and once every month, regardless of the weather conditions, on the Northumberland hills. You may also be expected to commit time to fund raising by
attending various shows throughout the summer season.
You can either download the application pack in either pdf format or word format:
