Out and About With The Team

  Saturday 29 March 2008.
The Team's major fund raising focus is to raise £50000 for the replacement of one of its aging landrover ambulances. To raise this kind of money, our fund raising "think tank" are pro-active with ideas. One such idea is to have a series of events catering for different tastes in the community, but utilising the terrian of our county. Hence our Grand Tour of Northumberland, which is best explained by viewing the web site.
On Saturday 29 March, the Grand Tour was launched with a 4x4 event held in Kielder Forest. (Many thanks to the Forestry Commission). Illustrated below are the activities the 4x4 eventers got up to. We strongly advise against trying this in your 4x4. The vehicles illustrated have been specifically re-engineered to cope with this type of terrain!
On Saturday 29th March twenty budding 4x4 enthusiasts met up with members of the Forestry Commission and the Team at Kielder Castle, for a day of trail blazing around the tracks and trails of Kielder and Wark Forest.
The drivers and their passengers first stocked up on fuel for themselves in the form of a full English breakfast from the Dukes Pantry, they then proceeded outside to ready their vehicles, which came in all different shapes and sizes, and compare specifications. After a safety brief from the organisers and the Forestry Commision they headed off into the forest.
The drivers were given the opportunity to drive some of the more challenging, rough and boggy trails the forest had to offer, the more adventurous drivers were also able to pitch their driving skills and vehicles against two disused quarries which offered a variety of challenging slopes, boulders and water filled pits.

Northumberland National Park Mountain Rescue Team is affiliated to the "Mountain Rescue - England and Wales" and a registered charity. We provide a Search and Mountain Rescue service throughout the Northumbria Police Force area and beyond primarily for the Police but also for the other emergency services. All Team members are volunteers and we rely on monies raised by ourselves as a registered
charity to run the Team. Further details regarding our latest callouts and Team information can be found on this website

One of the Team's current landrover ambulances is in need of replacing. We are currently trying to raise funds for its urgent replacement. If you or your company would like to contribute to raising the £50000, please contact our or the who will discuss with you your proposal. Many thanks.
