11 18 July
A request from Northumbria Police at 0630hrs to attend Rothbury to assist with flood evacuation,as more info came to light a more appropiate course of action was to send just the two rescue vehicles with a driver and navigator in each. Vehicles were on scene till 0930hrs when, with consultation from police and Enviroment Agency, it was decided we were longer required.
12 13 Aug
The Team was contacted by the Northumbria police at around 1045 hours, and the Team was called out at 1205 hours. There was some concern about an elderly Alzheimer's sufferer, who left home at 2030 the previous evening. A bus driver later reported that he had dropped him off at North Shields Metro station; this was confirmed by the station CCTV. There were further sightings later that night. He lived in Whitley Bay, and walked regularly along the seafront to Seaton Sluice. Our search concentrated on the paths and tracks around St Mary's Island and the golf course. Reported sightings continued during the day, and the search was called off at 1600 hours
13 21 Aug
At 7 p.m. on August 21st the Team were called by the Northumbria Police to search for an elderly male who had walked away from a road traffic accident on the A1 near Morpeth. He had spoken to a doctor at the scene shortly after the accident, and then disappeared. The doctor was concerned that he might have a head injury, and contacted the police. After a search of the nearby roads and lanes by team members, the missing person was found by police at his home address in Swarland later that evening.
14 22 Aug
At 10 p.m. on August 22nd the Team were contacted in connection with a 78 y.o. male patient who had gone missing from Wansbeck Hospital, Ashington. The team searched roads and fields near the hospital. At 2 a.m. the missing person was found by a police car. He was walking along a road in Widdrington.
15 17 & 18 Oct
Team's assistance requested by NESRA to assist in the search for missing 89 year old gent in the Ferryhill area of County Durham. Despite a 32 hours search no find was made and on going police enquires continue.
16 02 Nov
Request from Northumbria Police to aid in the search for a missing gentleman in the South Tyneside area but as the teams were on route the gentleman was located by the police and returned to hospital.
17 10 Nov
On Tuesday November 10th the team responded to a request from the police in connection with the disappearance of a 50 year old male from the Berwick upon Tweed area. Members of the team searched three areas of woodland to the north of the Tweed, but found nothing.
18 21 Nov
The Team were contacted by the police in connection with a male missing from his home in Chopwell. He was last seen the previous evening heading for Chopwell Woods. There was some concern for his safety on account of his health. He was seen by a member of the public in Chopwell as the search was getting started, and detained by the police.
Northumberland National Park Mountain Rescue Team are affiliated to "Mountain Rescue - England and Wales" and a registered charity. We provide a Search and Mountain Rescue service throughout the Northumbria Police Force area and beyond primarily for the Police but also for the other emergency services. All Team members are volunteers and we rely on monies raised by ourselves as a registered charity to run the Team.
