1 19 Jan
As the Team were preparing for an exercise in the Kielder Forest area later this year, we were asked by Northumbria Police for assistance in the following incidents.
The organisers of a mountain bike event in Kielder Forest asked us to assist a participant who had fallen and sustained a minor shoulder injury. After treatment by the Team's medical people the gentleman was advised to have the injury checked out at hospital.
2 19 Jan
This second incident in which the Team were asked to attend was relayed to us from Northumbria Police via the HM Coastguard! This resulted in the Team being directed to the accident site, where upon they found a female mountain biker with face, leg and arm injuries. As these injuries were being treated the Great North Air Ambulance arrived but was unable to land. A supporting road ambulance gave additional treatment and advised that the casualty to have the injuries checked at hospital. Read more>>
3 19 Jan
The third incident in this mountain bike event was for a male mountain bike rider who had fallen and punctured his fore arm. After treatment, he was advised to go to hospital for further consultation.
4 23 Jan
Northumbria Police contacted the Team Leader for assistance in the location of a 72 year old female who had gone missing. Our search management group devised a plan of action in the event that a full team callout became necessary at first light. The missing person was later found well outside initial planned search areas. No Teams were called out.
5 29 Jan
The Team Leader and Deputy were requested to attend a meeting regarding a missing 73 year old female. After further consultation with a POLSA unit, nearer to a centre of operations, an intial search plan was devised. Just as the Team was about to go to full callout status, the missing person was located and taken to hospital. The Team was stood down.
6 3 Feb
On 2 Feb the Team was asked to assist, Teesdale SMRT, at first light on 3 Feb in the search for a missing male near Wolsingham, Co Durham. This was a full NESRA callout.
7 5 Feb
Northumbria Police concerned for the where abouts of a missing 83 year old female. The Team Leader was contacted by the police control room, alerting him to this on going incident. Consequently, they requested our assistance. However, as more information became available, the missing person was located safe & well.
8 10 Feb
Northumbria Police asked the Team leader to attend a consulation meeting in relation to a missing person. A search plan was identified which would have required a limited callout using 3 SAR dogs and Team members. However, the person was located out of the search area. Consequently, no search & rescue units were deployed. NoTSRT were also involved.
9 17 Feb
The Team Leader was request to attend Bedlington police station to discuss a missing female, who was considered to be at high risk to her self. After further discussions, it was agreed this was not a SAR issue. No further team action required.
10 19 Feb
The Team Leader was requested to attend Wallsend police station to give advice on a missing 13 year old female. Team was placed on stand by. After discussions with the Polsa , a full callout was deemed not necessary, due to the identified area had already produced a negative result. The Team was stood down.

Northumberland National Park Mountain Rescue Team are affiliated to "Mountain Rescue - England and Wales" and a registered charity. We provide a Search and Mountain Rescue service throughout the Northumbria Police Force area and beyond primarily for the Police but also for the other emergency services. All Team members are volunteers and we rely on monies raised by ourselves as a registered charity to run the Team.
