10 January |
Two ladies were walking their 3 dogs in the Simonside Hills and
became disorientated in wet and very windy conditions. They were
reported overdue and police asked for the Team's assistance. Ladies
and dogs were found at Coquet Cairn wet and bedraggled but otherwise
OK. Team members and National Park Rangers escorted the ladies
and their dogs to safety.

11 January |
Police asked for the Team's assistance to search for a missing
male in the Ingram Valley. Together with the North of Tyne Search
and Rescue Team, extensive search of the area was made in wet
and very windy conditions, producing a negative result. Teams
were stood down for the night and resumed their search the following
morning. The search resumed at first light on 11 January but were
later stood down when the missing person was stopped by the police
whilst checking in for a flight at Newcastle International Airport.

January |
Police concerned for missing 83 year old female and so requested
the assistance of mountain rescue team in a on going search for
a missing person in the Newcastle upon Tyne area. A comprehensive
search plan produced a negative result. The Team was thanked and
stood down.

3 February
|
High priority callout for two missing 5yr olds, police requested
that the team be called out to RVP at a Gateshead police station.
It was reported that one 5 year old female was missing in the
Beacon Lough area of Gateshead, as further information was becoming
available and the Team was ariving the two 5 yr olds were located
and returned to their home. Team stood down. Read

11 February |
Police
control room requested the team to attend the West end Newcastle
police station to assist with an on going incident involving a missing
89 year old male, as the Team was preparing to mobilise their search
groups, the missing person was found safe and well. Team was stood

24 February |
Police
control requested the assistance of the Team for a missing 91 year
old female in the outskirts of Newcastle. This was a high priority
call. The missing person was found walking down a farm track 3 miles
away and reunited with her family.

26 February |
Police
requested search rescue to attend the Whickham police office for
a 68 year old missing from home. On route to the police station,
the Team had a call to say he had been found and could we keep travelling
to the police station, as they would need assistance in recovering
a body.

8 March |
Police
requested assistance with an on going search for a missing male.
The RVP was Whitley Bay police office. The Team were given an area
to search by the POLSA as a priority. The search produced no result.
The missing person was later found out of search area safe and well
taken to hospital for check up. Team stood down at 05.30 |

Police requested
immediate to search large open areas of the Newcastle parks areas.
The search areas were completed no result. During the debrief, the
POLSA located the missing person out of the search areas. The Team
was stood down at 0630 hours |

Teesdale
SMRT requested the assistance of the NNPMRT through Durham Police
on an going search in the Seaham area of Co. Durham. With the possibility
of a protracted night search. The plan was to re-assess the incident
at 0800, then if needed a further response was to be initiated. Stand-by
ended at 0755 on 23 March, with the person being found. |

25 March |
Police
control contacted the Team Leader in relation to missing child.
After a brief discussion the Team was placed on immediate standby.
After extensive enquiries the POLSA located the missing child playing
with friends. The Team was stood down. |

28 March |
Northumbria Police requested the assistance of the Team to locate a missing 13 year old with learning difficulties in the Berwick area. As the Team were on route, the missing person was found safe and well. |

31 March |
Northumbria Police requested the assistance of the Team to locate a missing 24 year old female. Search teams were allocated areas to investigate and the missing person was later found. |

12 April |
Police
requested team to attend an on going search in the Washington area.
This medical emergency was given a high priority due to information
received: 33yr old male spina bifida may self harm because of a
"fall out" with his partner and left note to say he would
commit suicide. |

28 April |
Police
contacted the Team for immediate assistance in locating a missing
austistic 6 year old female. Concerns for her safety and whereabouts
were raised when her bicycle was found abandoned near her home.
As the Team was deployed the missing female was found safe and well.

29 April |
Whilst on a training exercise, Northumbria Police requested the Team to support the Northumbria Fire and Rescue Service in communication issues with fire fighters in forrested areas. |

20 May |
The
Team had a high priority callout at 1455 hours to search for a missing
57 year old male on the outskirts of Newcastle. Two other Teams
North of Tyne SRT and Teesdale SMRT were involve as well the police
helicopter and the RAF Seaking form RAF Boulmer. High priority search
areas were Chopwell Wood, the Derwent Walk and Causy Arch. At 1740
hours the missing person was located out of the search area in Edmundbyers
and rushed to hospital. The Teams were stood down. |

26 May |
The
Police were concerned for the where abouts of a missing 70 year
old who had failed to return to a pre-arranged RV point within the
Alnwick Gardens. The Team were requested to search the open areas
within the gardens. Various points were identified as high priority
search areas. Search dogs were deployed with the police helicopter
in close support. Extra search dogs were placed on standby from
Teesdale SMRT. The missing person was located safe and well if some
what confused to her own where abouts. Team stood down at 2030 hours.
Under the umbrella organisation of Northumbria Search and Rescue
Services, the North of Tyne SRT worked with the Team. |

3 June |
The
Police were concerned for the where abouts of a missing 40 year
old who had failed to return to his campsite, late on 2 June 2007,
in the Whitfield area, near Hexham Northumberland. The Team leaders
from both the Northumberland National Park Mountain Rescue Team and
the North of Tyne SRT met with police to discuss a search strategy.
Both Teams were placed on standby at 1330 hours. Whilst discussions
with the police were taking place at the camp site, the missing
person was locate safe and well in the Allendale area. Both Teams
were stood down |

9 June |
Whilst providing rescue cover for a charitable walking event today
the Team, together with the North of Tyne SRT evacuated a walker
who had sustained facial injuries in a fall. Fortunately, the injury
site was accessible by our landrover ambulance, otherwise a long
evacuation by a stretcher party would have been necessary. The injured
person was transferred by our landrover ambulance to Alwinton where
further medical treatment was administered and onward transportation
to hospital. |

Participant suffering with leg injuries was evacuated by our landrover
ambulance. It is for reasons such as this why

In a nearby location a search group helped a participating group
who were slightly miss placed. |

Participant evacuated from Housey Crags with breathing difficulties.
The person recovered after oxygen had been administered. |

A
man was reported missing from his home late last night. Northumbria
police asked for the assistance the Team at 2350 hours. Together
with the Coastguard search areas were quickly defined and search
groups from the Team and North of Tyne SRT were deployed. As the
search area also included a coastal strip of land the Coastguard
were also deployed. After intensive searching the missing gentleman
was located safe and well. All rescue teams were stood down at 0215
hours |

24 June |
On
return from a safety cover from a fell race in North Northumberland,
Northumbria Police asked the Team Leader for the Team's assistance,
together with the North of Tyne SRT, in an on-going search by police
for two missing females ( 5 and 6 years old ) in the Newcastle area.
As both Teams were on route the missing youngsters were located
by the police, safe and well and returned to their parents. |

6 July
2245 hours |
At
2245 hours on 6 July the Team Leader was contacted by Northumbria
Police for assistance in finding a missing gentleman aged 77 years.
The Team, with the assistance of two search and rescue dogs were
tasked to search the surrounding countryside in the Morpeth area
of Northumberland. As the initial search areas were being concluded
and the search Team managers were reviewing their search strategy,
with the intention of asking neighbouring Teams for assistance,
the missing gentleman was located safe and well and returned to
his family. The Team was stood down at 0230 hours on 7 July. |

10 July |
At
0850 hours the police contacted the Team Leader to request our presence
in an on going search. The Team was placed on standby, when it was
learnt that the search had been graded high priority. After discussions
with the police, the Team's operational search managers decided
to place both NNPMRT and NoTSRT on callout and put Teesdale SMRT
and their two search dogs on standby. As the rescue teams were arriving
at there RVP and about to be deployed into their search areas, notification
came that the missing person had been located. All teams were stood
down. |

14 July |
Team
placed on standby to assist Northumbria Police in an on going search
for a missing 86 year old male. Soon after the call for assistance,
the missing person was located and the Team was stood down. |

17 July |
At
2155 Northumbria Police called the Team Leader asking for assistance
from the Team and NoTSRT, in an on going search for an 81 year old
gentleman. After extensive search night search of Newcastle's Town
Moor and surrounding area using search dogs from Teesdale SMRT,
the search was called off when the missing person was found out
of the search area, in Peterlee Co. Durham. The gentleman was returned
to his family. |

Northumbria
Police were concerned for the safety of a missing 40 year old female
and requested the Team's assistance to search the wide open areas
of South Shields. As the Team Leader was discussing search tactics
and defining areas for immediate search, the missing female was
located by police. At this time, this limited callout would have
been raised to a full callout for the whole Team at first light,
had the missing person not been located. Stand down at 0135 Saturday
21 July. |

28 July |
The
Team assisted Northumbria Ambulance Service and the police in a
RTA. This is not something the Team would normally be called to
deal with but as we were on scene every assistance was given. Northumbria
Police thanked the Team for their help. |

29 July |
The
Team was called to search for a missing 10 year old male at 2100 hours.
This was a high priority call out due to the male's age. As the
Team was gathering at the RVP, the young male was located safe and
well and returned to his family. |

2 August |
Northumbria
Police were concerned to the whereabouts of a missing male on the
outskirts of Morpeth. The Team was called out and search groups
were deployed. Extra support for the Team was provided by specially
trained search dogs. After several hours of searching the missing
person was located at Rothbury, several miles and well outside of
our designated search area. |

5/6 August |
Northumbria
Police requested the Team's assistance for an on going search for
a missing farmer. After assessments from all the information available,
it was decided to have a full team callout to the vast grounds of
the Gibside Estate. Extra support was required from Teesdale SMRT.
The search continued well into the night, when the Teams were stood
down until first light on 6 August. During the stand down information
received was consolidated with what was already known. As a result
of this information the search area as expanded with further Teams
being called, Kirby Stephen MRT, RAF MRT, the police mounted division,
the police dive team and the police air support unit. After an extensive
search, the Teams were stood down when a body was found and recovered.

15 August |
Northumbria
Police were concerned to the whereabouts of a missing 84 year old
female. The Team was placed on standby. As the Team Leader ans his
search control Team were analysing the information, it was reported
the missing female was found safe and well and returned to her care
home. |

17 August |
Northumbria
Police were concerned to the whereabouts of a missing female. The
Team was placed on standby together with SARDA search dogs from
our Team, Teesdale SMRT and North Yorks MRT. Whilst the Team was
gathering at the RVP the police air support units flew over the
search area. The missing female was located and re-united with her
family. Team stood down. |

24 August |
Northumbria
Police contacted the Team Leader regarding a group of 4 teenagers
reported several hours overdue from a walk in the Cheviot area.
Whilst the overhead team were en-route to the incident, the group
were reunited safe and well with family at the Hawsen Burn. |

Northumbria
police asked for the Team's assistance in locating a missing 80
year old lady who went missing whilst walking her dog on local rough
ground. As search teams arrived on scene the missing person was
found safe and well. Teams stood down. |

6 Sept. |
At
1800 hours this evening the Team Leader was asked by Northumbria
Police to assist in the search for a missing 3 year old. As the
Team Leader was being briefed and the Team being mobilised, the young
person was found safe and well. The Team was stood down. |

12 Sept |
The Team Leader was contacted by police to assist in an ongoing search for a vulnerable female. As the Team was responding to this request and a search plan evolving to put into action as Team members were arriving, the missing female was located and returned to her parents. Team stood down. |

18 Sept 2130 hours
|
The Team was requested to assist in a high priority search for a missing male on the outskirts of Newcastle. The Team responded with four search and rescue dogs ( two of these search dogs were from Teesdale MRT ) who searched open ground until 0400 hours on the 19 September. Nothing was found and so both Teams were stood down. Later in the day as the Team was organising a follow up search, the missing person had returned to his home. Read More >> |

At 1900 the Team Leader was contacted by Northumbria Police to assist in an on going search in the outskirts of Sunderland, for a missing vulnerable male. As the Team Leader was to liaising with the police and advising on a search strategy, the person was found, well out of the planned initial proposed search area. The Team was consequently stood down. |

At 1835 hours Northumbria Police contacted the Team Leader for an immediate response to a high priority callout, to assist in the search for two missing 4 year olds in South Tyneside. As the Team were on route the missing youngsters were located, returned to their families and the Team was stood down. |

At 2000 hours Northumbria Police asked for the Team's assistance in searching for a 9 year old missing from home.
As the Team were responding and a strategy being developed by the Team's overhead search management,
the young person was located safe and well and returned to the child's family. |

Whilst a small group of Team members were in the Kielder area, carrying out checks for a forth coming
event, Northumbria Police Control Room contacted them via radio and asked for assistance in the recovery of a female who had
collapsed whilst out walking in the Chollerford area of Northumberland. Team members arrived on scene where a doctor
pronounced death and with the assistance of Northumbria Police Officers evacuated the body by Landrover ambulance 2km to
the main road then on to Hexham General Hospital |

Whilst on exercise in the Simonside Crags in Northumberland, the Team Leader was requested by Northumbria Police to assist in the search for a vulnerable person. Whilst the Team Leader was on route, the missing person was located. |

Following on
from incident 49, whilst the Team was on exercise with medical students near the Simonside Crags, Team members quickly responded to the
assistance of a fallen climber. The person had sustained suspected rib-cage and spinal injuries. Due to the nature of
these possible injuries, the Team requested from Northumbria Police that the helicopter from RAF Boulmer should attend.
The person was air-lifted to Wansbeck Hospital. This incident utilised the combined resources of not only the Team but
also Northumbria Ambulance Service, Northumbria Police and RAF Boulmer. It was learnt later that the climber had,

The Team leader was asked for the Team's assistance for a missing person. As the Team Leader was en-route, the missing person had been found. |

Northumbria Police requested the assistance of the Team to search for a missing person on the outskirts of South Tyneside.
Due to the nature of the search, the Team made a limited response by dispatching two search dogs. Nothing was found and the
Team was stood down. |

Police requested the Team Leader to attend Bedlington police station, to assist in the search for missing 9 year old.
Due to age of the missing persons and the timing of this incident, it was deemed high priority. Therefore, The NNPMRT an NoTSRT were both called out. However,
as the Teams were responding, the young person was located and returned home. Both teams stood down.

As the Team was returning to base from the above callout, a message came through of another on going search required the Team's assistance. This was to locate 2 missing girls. Once again, due to the age of the missing persons and
the timing of this incident, it was treated as high priority.
As the Team were enroute , it was learnt that there were now 3 missing young girls. Fortunately,
as the over head team was arriving at the RVP the girls were located and returned home. The Team was stood down.

30 Oct |
Northumbria Police contacted the Team Leader for advice on three on going incidents. The first incident involved an 88 year old missing
person but as information was still coming in, the advice was for the police to contact the Team Leader when further information became available. The second incident was in the southern extremities of our operational area, regarding a missing 66 year old female.
As preparations were being made to call out our SARDA dogs, she was located in an area identified for immediate search by the SARDA dogs upon their arrival. The third incident was for a 50 year old female, who was missing from her guest house on Holy Island.
Due to tidal conditions, the Team Leader advised the Police that a helicopter from RAF Boulmer be tasked to fly over the area, with the assistance of the Police
Air Support unit and local search units from HM Coastguard. The missing person was located by HM Coastguard on a public footpath and returned to her
guest house. |

03 Nov |
At 1450 hours Northumbria Police asked the Team to respond to assist the Northumbria Ambulance Service. The reason being,
a lone mountain biker had fallen and suffered injuries near Coe Craggs in Thrunton Woods. The injured person had contacted
the ambulance service using a mobile phone and was able to give a location. As there were Team members already in the vicinity, t
hey responded, whilst one of the Team's landrover ambulance was en route to the RVP. As Team members were moving to the evacuation
site they found an awaiting air ambulance
about to transport the injured person to hospital.

Northumbria Police requested the assistance of the Team in an on going search for a 12 year old male missing in the Washington area.
As the Team were being deployed, the youth was located and NNPMRT were stood down.

18 Nov |
As the Team were returning from an exercise earlier in the day, the team leader was asked by Northumbria Police to attend an on going incident
regarding a crashed vehicle and a missing person near sea cliffs. The Team was asked to search the surrounding area in case the driver of the vehicle was lying injured nearby. In this instance, the Team were supporting the RNLI and HM Coastguard. As the overhead
team were en route, the missing person was located.
As this incident was being resolved, the Team was diverted to a second incident to locate a missing 75 year old male.
Once again, as the overhead team were enroute the missing person was located. NNPMRT members were stood down.

23 Nov 2345 hrs |
Northumbria Police requested the Team's assistance in an on going search for a missing 29 year female.
This was quite a high priority call out due to the timing, the severe weather conditions and the missing person's
medical history. As the Team and NOTSRT were enroute to the RVP, the missing female was located. Both teams were stood down.

The Team, together with NOTSRT wers requested by Northumbria Police to assist with the search for a missing 61 year old
female. As further checks were being made by Northumbria Police the missing female was located safe well.
This was a well coordinated response by the two volunteer rescue teams coordinated by Northumbria police.

Northumbria Police contacted the Team Leader and requested assistance in the search management of a missing male.
A search plan was drawn up. However, due to the information available at this time, it was decided that the Team's
resources would be best utilised in a day light search. Meanwhile, as local police officers were conducting enquiries
the missing person was located safe and well. No SAR teams were deployed.

Northumbria Police, concerned
for the safety of a missing 72 year old female, contacted the Team Leader who, with another team member, formulated a
search strategy prior to calling out the Team. Due to the freezing temperatures this incident became urgent. Fortunately,
as the search plan was being developed, the missing person was located and taken to hospital for a medical check up.

0300 hours. Northumbria Police were concerned for the safety of a missing 75 year old male and so contacted the Team Leader for
assistance in locating the gentleman. This was quite urgent as the missing person had a known medical condition. As team
members were preparing to rendevous at search HQ, the missing person was located and returned to his home.

1800 hours. Northumbria Police requested the assistance of both NNPMRT and NoTSRT in the location of a missing 85year old male.
As the Teams were being placed on stand-by, the Team Leader was informed that the missing person had been found safe.
Northumbria Police thanked the Teams for their response and were stood down.

Northumbria Police requested the Team's assistance in locating a lost walker who had become disorientated somewhere on the border ridge
above Alwinton, Northumberland. Fortunately, before the batteries on the person's mobile expired, a grid reference was
ascertained. So, together with NoTSRT a search strategy was developed. Two search dog teams were deployed and the Team's SARDA later found
the missing person on the border ridge. He was escorted off the hill. Read more >>
